Green Smoothie Recipes

One of the healthiest types of smoothies that you can make for yourself are green smoothie recipes. These smoothies are essentially just fruit smoothies with a twist, they have added vegetables too, particularly greens. The greens I tend to use the most are kale, chard, spinach, and wheatgrass.

You can also add in more traditional vegetables like carrots or broccoli as well, but always make sure the largest portion consists of leafy greens. As these are the most nutritionally dense foods you can consume.

One of the primary benefits to these types of smoothies is the fact that you can mask the flavor of the bitter greens and veggies with the sweet flavors of the fruits, and any other types of sweet and tasty ingredients you might include.

These types of smoothies are also much better at delivering nutrients to your body compared to just eating a salad. This is because the hard to digest greens which are very fibrous are broken down by the blender or smoothie maker to such an extant that the emulsified produce is more "bio available" to your digestive system. (basically you absorb more of your nutrients with smoothies then just chompin' on fruit and veggies).

As always I recommend you only use organic produce and ingredients, and always use properly filtered water if you are going to just use water as your only liquid base for your smoothies. Most importantly, have fun and experiment! Here is a great green smoothie recipes to get you started!
